From fall to early spring of every year, yacht brokers, luxury yacht owners, and industry enthusiasts gather at yacht shows hosted in waters throughout the world to explore the latest models and be on the cutting edge of industry innovation.
This year—perhaps more than any other—“green” initiatives are taking center stage.
Though the most experienced yacht brokers have watched with interest as eco-friendly boats with hybrid engines have hit the water, this year will be among the first where eco-focused models are being highlighted by some of the most popular boat shows.
What To Expect at This Year’s Boat Shows: A Sustainability Focus
As any yacht broker or boat enthusiast knows, boat show season doesn’t start until the Cannes Yachting Festival kicks off (held September 6th-11th of this year).
For the first time, the famous Vieux Port, Jetée, Quai Max Laubeuf, and other harbors and marinas where all yacht types are put on display will be joined by the “Green Route.”
The “Green Route” will highlight eco-efficient solutions by shipyards looking to be at the forefront of the industry, with a focus on vessels featuring onboard electric, hybrid, or hydrogen power systems.
Likewise, the internationally-recognized and universally-loved Monaco Yacht Show (held September 28th-October 1st) will feature the Sustainability Hub.
This exhibition will be focused on the research and development of sustainable yachting solutions, and will offer a path toward even more innovative yacht design by giving a space for sustainability startups to shine.
What This Eco-Friendly Focus Means for the Yachting Industry
The yachting industry has long been one focused on paving new paths, sailing new waters, and developing what boat owners need to have their perfect adventure.
So it’s no surprise that these famed shows are setting sustainability in focus.
The Green Route and Sustainability Hub—along with other eco-friendly exhibitions we’re sure to see throughout the coming year—will offer startups interested in sustainable technology the chance to connect with shipyards and revolutionize the next wave of luxury yachts.
In an industry where design and innovation is always at the forefront of the mind, it makes sense that these sustainable solutions will one day be offerings easily accessible to both yacht owners and yacht charter guests.
Every year, future yacht owners and the yacht brokers representing them fly to these shows to see the best-of-the-best in action.
And though the vessels on display at the biggest batting shows in the world never disappoint, setting our sights on sustainability in yachting is just another way that we’re showing innovation in action.
Who knows—in another decade, we might be seeing sustainability-focused luxury yachts taking center stage in the most popular harbors of these boat shows, with onlookers praising their compelling design, unbeatable performance, and future-looking hybrid systems.
What to Expect From a Yacht Show This Year
While we wait to see what comes next for eco-friendly focused yacht design, we’ll be enjoying the never-boring showcases that always define boating shows like the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show.
This year, the Cannes Yachting Festival will feature over 550 total exhibitors, with nearly 640 boats proudly on display and almost 55,000 visitors set to show up. The glittering waters of the Côte d’Azur will be the boat show’s home as sailboats and 30-plus-meter megayachts are given space to shine.
As any one of our yacht charter guests or any yacht broker knows, megayachts are nothing without their toys.
That’s why shows like these display some of the newest (and most-essential) technology and watercraft accessories for onboard entertainment, offering everyone who visits a clear path toward adventure in the sun.
Can Anyone Go to a Yacht Show?
Yachting shows aren’t only about fun. (Though there’s plenty of that too!)
Yachting shows give the chance for shipyards to show off their craft and attract interested buyers who might be looking for their ideal vessel for days of adventure in crystal-clear waters.
They also give the chance for yacht enthusiasts and boat owners to learn more about the industry and the many options available to them when it comes to yachts for sale.
You can contact an experienced yacht broker to learn more about the vessels featured this year, as well as the many examples of innovative technology and next-level design that is going to be displayed.
They’ll be able to talk you through the many aspects of yacht ownership, as well as help you find your ideal yacht.
Because at the end of the day, you don’t need to go to yachting shows to find what you’re looking for. You just need the right yacht broker (with decades of experience) to be by your side, helping you bring to life your perfect adventure.
